►Listening to: 30 Minute Love Affair - Paloma Faith
After a long day at work, I managed to rush to Brussels' main shopping district with the hope of finding myself some new pieces to add to my Autumn wardrobe. Inevitably, I ended up scouring through all the H&Ms of the area (yep, there's like 6 in one street...) and got inspired to write up this entry.
I decided to start doing this new type of post where I compile my favourite items from a particular store and/or trend and I share them with you in a collage kind of style. As I said already, after looking through the racks of multiple H&M shops today, I had the opportunity to spot the best items on sale at the moment. Let's admire them together.
1. Black Bag: I have been complaining about not having a suitable black bag for too long. So yeah, as soon as I saw this number I fell in love with it. It looks pretty sturdy and it comes in quite a large size. Big enough to carry my camera, travel documents, huge notebook and all the junk I force myself to take around every day. This piece is ideal for all those, who like me, load their bags with enough stuff to open a bazaar.
2. Vanilla Body Spray: I feel H&M have really gone up a notch in their cosmetics department. They have a full range of body lotions, soaps that smell like heaven, but nothing comes close to this unbelievable Vanilla Body Spray. This little nicely-scented friend would have come to Malta with me had I not been travelling using just a hand luggage. It exceeds the 100ml liquid limit so I'll have to get it next time. I tried it on at the store and it lasted me for almost an entire day. Costing just over €3, this body spray is by far a bargain!
3. Black Cape: We all love our outerwear and capes are one of my favourites in the category. Whereas I do enjoy wearing my boxy, masculine boyfriend jackets and coats, I will always have a thing for capes. A black one would match many outfit combinations and it's also very classy. Worth seeing, trust me.
4. Alphabet Jumper: Primark were doing an alphabet blouse when I was still in the Uk before the Summer. I had really liked that but I never got it as the fabric wasn't the best. This jumper is similar yet the quality is a hundred times better. It's also a sweater so it's surely more appropriate for the colder months. I believe this item is part of their 'trend' section and it seems to be quite popular here. I've spotted a few people wearing it already.
5. Nudes Eyeshadow Palette: There isn't much to say about this one other than the following: if you're looking for an inexpensive palette with basic nude shadows, this might just do the trick. I never tried H&M make-up products, but many on the internet speak quite highly of them. The palette is sold for €5 euro, which technically means you just pay a euro for each hue. Sounds like a good deal to me.
6. Embossed Belt: I know a lot of people - including myself - struggle to find authentic vintage belts to pair with their high-waisted items. I've always wondered why I never saw anything on the high street that tried to recreate the effect on these belts. The fashion gods have heard my prayers and here it is. Looks very realistic to me.
7. Lace-Up Boots: Lastly, I decided to include this tan pair of lace-up boots. Here in Belgium it rains nine days out of ten, so I can never have too many boots given the large number of days I get to spend here. Anyway, this is one of the many purchase-worthy boots at H&M at the moment. Apart from a selection of Chelsea boots - heeled and non-heeled! - this pair of shoes really caught my attention. I can totally see them with the cape.
I'll let you know if I get any of the above and in the meantime, do suggest any stores / trends you want me to write about. I'll do my best to answer your request. Ciao!
