Charles and Ron Fall/Winter 2014 Collection

Following moments of indecision as to whether I should brave the weather to attend the Moda Malta show on Friday night - I don't like ruining my hair in the rain - I decided to put my courage cap on. The thought of appreciating yet another masterpiece by local fashion designers Charles and Ron was enough to make me ignore the pouring rain, put an outfit together and head to Xara Lodge in Rabat.

After a few smaller scale shows from local boutiques - which, alas, failed to tickle my fancy big time - the real show stoppers graced the catwalk. An array of textures - including leather, sheer and tulle, were beautifully complemented by two main predominant and contrasting colours: red and black. Charles and Ron and known for finding inspiration amongst what makes us Maltese - remember their collection showcased during Malta Fashion Week earlier this year? Read about it here - and this time they turned their eyes - or maybe 'their ears' is more appropriate when talking about a collection called 'Silence' - on Malta's silent city.

The Charles and Ron Fall/Winter 2013 woman is dark, mysterious yet captivating. The undeniably feminine collection is perfect for that woman who seeks to make a statement by opting for finer details and eye-catching elements like interesting silhouettes and panel work, but it also allows validity for that woman who loves a gorgeous print. 

The collection also featured a selection of bags by the same designers.As a bag-obsessed woman, I admit I singled them out as my favourite items during the entire night. Once again, these practical and yet stylish accessories, testified Charles and Ron's mastery in exploiting silhouette versatility without compromising innovation.
