I decided to review a blush palette that will make you want to permanently shelve any other blush products in your collection. Ladies and gentlemen, please meet my cheek's best friend, the Sleek Blush Palette in 'Lace' (367).
After months of drooling after Sleek make-up, I went ahead and made a purchase the weekend before moving out of the British capital. Here are my thoughts on it.
Colour: The blush palette includes 3 warm blush shades. The first from the left is Crochet, and orange peachy hue that tends to suit fairer skin tones slightly better, whereas the middle one is Guipure. This second one is in fact my absolute favourite: I never came across such a lovely rose gold blush! It has an evident gold shimmer - which is stronger in the packaging than when applied on the skin - which I'm finding myself wearing every day. I love wearing it on my upper cheekbone to create a rounder silhouette. The last colour is Chantilly, a dark orange almost red hue. I find this one to be the strongest and darkest of all. The three shades can be purchased separately for five pounds each, but as a palette, the product retails for ten pounds.
Packaging: One of the reasons why I was always more than keen on trying out Sleek is the incredible packaging. The latter truly lives up to the brand's name. It has a nice matte feel and it also makes full use of the inner mirror. Apart from being conveniently lightweight and thin, it's very pleasing to the eye. I love leaving it on my dressing table or carrying it around (and finding every excuse to bring it out and look at the larger than average mirror).
Pigmentation: A product's pigmentation level is a deal-breaker when deciding whether to take a particular product home. Sleek's 'Lace' palette definitely didn't let me down on this one! All three shades are incredibly pigmented. I recommend using a light hand when applying any of the hues, especially if you're a bit clumsy like myself. I personally think Chantilly is the most pigmented of all. No wonder Sleek are known for their impeccable pigmentation levels.
Longevity: This is very important during the Summer months. The least thing I need is to have to apply my make-up every two hours! Even on this one, I was very convinced. The longevity of the product was far more than just decent.
Skin tones: Whereas I do think these three shades might suit fairer skin tones better, I still feel they can look flattering on darker ladies. I do think, however, that the colour pay off on the first skin type might be a little more evident.
In comparison: When seen in conjunction with other peachy-based blushes, I feel the rest all pale in comparison (pun intended). The closest shade to Crochet is Essence's Limited Edition Blush in No Better Way to Sky (which I reviewed here), yet the excellent quality of the Sleek alternative is in no way comparable to its Essence counterpart.
Final Verdict: As you can probably tell, I'm finding it very easy to praise this product. I'm glad I bought it and I will definitely repurchase. Ever since this blush palette earned itself a place in my make-up collection, all the other blushes were automatically pushed at the back of my drawer.
Sleek make-up can be bought from Superdrug, MakeUp Alley as well as on the Sleek website. The latter also delivers to Malta.
