If you remember correctly (I'm sure you do, you're all very bright!), I posted about visiting George Malta with fellow blogger and stylist Caroline Paris a few entries ago. After showing you a few stills from the final video to give you an indication of what happened on the day, I'm now going to share with you the video in its entirety. I do, however, encourage you to read my previous post over here so you can get a few extra details on the who, what and why of the visit.
We spent a good twenty minutes browsing the store. As I said earlier, this was the first time I had the opportunity to scan through the rails at George, so I can't deny being very eager to check out the garments and their price tag. Apart from the scandalously cheap sale items, I learned that the pieces in the store are of a highly affordable nature. In terms of styles, I noticed that George cater for different tastes. I was obviously drawn to their dainty blouses, tailored items as well as a few bags. Overall, it's definitely a store I shall visit again.
On to the styling session. Caroline and I decided to pick two outfits each, one for ourselves, one for each other. This is where you press 'play' on the video below. Go on...
The first outfit, which you can see on Caroline, is the outfit I picked for her. I tried to go for something she would like whilst inserting a bit of myself in it as well. As much as I love mustard and yellow, I must admit that the starting point of the outfit was the tropical print skirt and not the gorgeous top! We were both starstruck by the skirt a few moments after walking into the shop, so I knew I just had to make Caroline wear it. In order to stick to the jungle theme, and to make the look more eccentric a la Caroline Paris, I threw in these lovely pair of animal print wedges (which were in the sale section, y'all). To finalise the outfit, I topped it off with this statement necklace very reminiscent of tropical princesses (in my head, anyway!).
Time for the second outfit, the one Caroline chose for herself. After going for the panel dress, Caroline added a silver waterfall necklace which complemented the cold hues of the dress to perfection. I tend to stay away from layering statement necklaces on top of bold garments, but I can't deny that even though this combination is way out of my comfort zone, Caroline pulled it off amazingly.
The outfit Caroline came up with for me is the third look you can see in the video. Caroline decided to stick to my rockabilly influences, but also opted for something that went a little further. Compared to myself, Caroline is a bit more eclectic in her choices and, well, you can clearly sense that in the way she styled me. The look is based on classic rockabilly silhouettes and elements - the knotted shirt, high-waisted pants, the hair scarf - but the heavy pattern blocking adds a modern, Carolinesque twist to it all. Star of the outfit? Mickey obviously!
And lastly, the outfit that proves that I can never resist a monochrome pussybow blouse. A round of applause to me, ladies and gentlemen. I nearly walked home with this French-inspired pussybow blouse you see in the video. It has it all, even the ruffles! In order to break the two-tone dominance of the look, I added a mini polka dot satchel - also in the sale! . and I was done. Yay me!
I did walk home with a pair of shoes after the filming session, but you'll have to wait for a couple of days to see that. In the meantime, you can have a read through Caroline's interesting blog.
